Trampoline Tragedy

This afternoon we had a pretty bad thunderstorm come through.
This is what was left of Madie's Trampoline.

She walked outside and said "trampoline broke," just like she did with her pass. Between her pass and her trampoline (2 of her most favorite things) she will now know what "broke" means.

Thanks to our great neighbors for helping with the clean up before another storm came through. It was greatly appreciated!

Good Bye Pass!

Last week when I took Madie to the Dentist he asked if she used a pacifier. Madie fondly calls it "pass". I told him that she did, but only when she was sleeping and the only place she could have it was in her bed. Since she was a premmie, I was told to let her sleep with her Pass to reduce the risk of SIDS. Well, that scared me to death so of course at night when she was sleeping or napping during the day, I wanted her to have it.

While at the dentist, he gently tilted Madie's head back and showed me how her teeth were beginning to curve in the shape of her pass. You can't see it straight on...only if you lean her head
back and look from underneath. I was devastated! I didn't want to think that I was the cause of it because she hadn't given up her pass yet.

(I tried breaking her of it several months back, but I caved in and gave it back to her)

So the day after, before she took her nap, I cut a whole in the end of pass. When she got it to take a nap she looked at it and said, "look mommy, pass got a whole in it." Then she preceded to tell me that it was broke but would not part with it for her nap.

When she got up, she told me again that it was broke and wanted me to fix it. I explained that I couldn't and that I was very sorry. She kept telling me that it was broke and then she wanted to throw it away. So she did....she threw it away...I could hardly believe my eyes.

We are going on 3 days now without pass. She is doing so good and I am so proud of her. It makes me a little sad to know that she has out grown it....but I'm glad she'll have straight teeth.

Good Bye Pass! It was nice to know you.

A Helicopter Ride?

Our Saturday morning conversation about what to do for the day went like this:

Me: Hubby, what do you want to do today?

Hubby: Whatever you and Madie want to do today is fine with me?

Me: Madie, what do you want to do today?

Madie: Ride in helicopter!

Next time, I don't think I'll ask, she may want to bungee jump!

Freaked Out!

My neighbor Misti just called a while ago to tell, share, WARN me that they found a baby snake in their basement today. We live on the lake in our neighborhood and I know that the population of snakes around our house is probably greater than those houses not around woods or water--we have both. This really freaked me out. I've seen snakes crossing the lake, at the edge of the yard and in the road--but not in the house...thank goodness!

I've walked around the house looking for places a snake could hide to see if I see one. I know I am just paranoid, but still. I DO NOT want to find a snake in my yard, much less my house!

Looks like hubby will be putting out moth balls around the house this weekend. I don't care if it smells like and old lady around here...I just want to make sure we are snake free.

Mommy, I Like-a The Dentist

Today was a day to be remembered! Today was Madie's first visit to the Dentist. She was actually not supposed to go until next week, but they called and had a cancellation for today and wanted to know if we wanted it. I said yes before I realized that I had not started prepping her with the basics like : what is a dentist? What they would do? How they would count her teeth and the most important part, that she would probably get a prize for being a good girl. So, I had to act fast. I had less than 24 hours.

When Madie got up this morning I asked her if she remembered where we were going today. She said "dentist." (She is so smart) So, we get to the dentist office and we are about to walk in and she says, "Mommy, no dentist." I told her that we just needed to go in and let then look at her teeth, we would get her "prize" and go home.

So, in we went. I think I was more nervous that she was. I had no idea how she would react.

She was an absolute ANGEL! She didn't cry one time and opened her mouth for her cleaning like she had done it a hundred times before. She watched cartoons on the ceiling while her teeth were being cleaned and only seemed nervous when a boy next to her began to cry like a little girl. I was worried she would start in too, but she didn't. She talked to the hygienist and to the dentist too like she knew them.

I was so proud of her. After getting 3 stickers, 2 toy frogs, a t-shirt, toothbrush, pencil, and a floss tool for being such a good girl, we were headed to the car. Madie was holding my hand as we crossed the parking lot when she looked up at me and said, "Mommy, I like-a the dentist."
I just smiled and told her that I liked the dentist too.

Mark this down as another moment that I want to make sure that I remember.

Mother's Day Out...or Not?

Every since we went on vacation and Madie declared everything "MINE!", I have debated with myself about putting her in a Mother's Day out program for one day a week in the fall. I'm not sure what side of me is winning the debate. I know she would probably have a wonderful time and enjoy the play time with other kids her age but part of me is so hesitant about it.

I'll continue my inner debate. I could always just sit outside and watch through the window.

Love The Word... Free

Miss Madie and I hit the red carpet again today. We went to the FREE movie and saw Charlotte's Web. Sure we have seen it before, but not on the big screen and it was totally free. This go around, the movie was much more fun. I discovered the booster seats that are available for kids that do not weigh enough to hold the seat down...they are great and comfy and spared us from Madie being eaten by the seat. We had popcorn and candy (although, it was not free, but less than the price of one movie ticket)---and it was only 10:00 a.m.---what fun.

Now I have been on every movie theater in our areas website to find out what their schedule for the summer is too.

We still go to the library and see Mr. Mac, but this summer it has been so crowded each time we have been it hasn't been fun. I'm on a mission to find other free things to do. If anyone has any suggestions please share.

Cherishing The Moment

Today was one of those days that I don't want to forget.

(Well, at least part of it. I could forget the part where Madie's diaper leaked on her beanbag and I had to wash the cover and disinfect the bag and I had those little white beans all over the house-why do they act like they have magnets in them?)

Let me start over.

Today was one of those days that I don't want to forget.

Today was a girls day. We went to get Madie's hair trimmed at Sweet & Sassy. Her bangs were so long they were hanging in her eyes. I am so glad that she enjoys going. She gets so excited about getting the glitter star on her cheek. She just seems to have a really good time and I'm glad I can make those memories for her.

After the hair cut, I decided that we would go to Johnny Rockets for lunch. I had not been there in years and I thought she might like it. At first I ordered a chocolate malt for us to share. We each had a straw and were drinking it at the same time. She looked up at me and said in her toddler voice, "Mommy, this is really really good....it's alicious." Translation-Delicious

I had no idea she knew words that big. She amazes me everyday. We finished our lunch. I had a hamburger and Madie a hot dog and we shared some cheese fries..yum yum!

As I was driving home, looking back at Madie in her car seat, licking on the sucker she was given when she got her hair cut, I couldn't help but smile. I am so fortunate to be able to spend my days being a full time mom, experiencing everything with Madie and watching her grow. At that moment I wanted to remind myself to cherish this moment.

Sigh.....She's growing up right before my eyes.

Let's Go To The Movies

Yesterday I decided it would be fun to take Madie to the movies. My SIL was in town visiting and I thought it would give us something to do. Kung Fu Panda is playing and I have heard good things about it, and I thought Madie might enjoy it.

We grab some lunch before the movie so that we have more for lunch than Popcorn and Rasinettes. We get there 20 minutes before the movie is to begin. Plenty of time to go to the bathroom, get our yummy refreshments, and find the perfect seat for Madie to enjoy her first movie.

When the previews began, Madie was a little startled by the noise and large screen and before the coming attractions were finished, she had decided that she wanted "no, movie....go home."

So I started pulling out the snacks, Popcorn (which she has never eaten before because I am paranoid about her choking) and rasinettes.

She looks up at me as says in a very loud voice, "Popcorn, I like it!" and continues to say it over and over. She wiggled and squirmed and went from my lap to SIL lap (she couldn't sit in a seat by herself....she didn't weigh enough to hold the seat bottom down). She asked for a diaper change 2 times (they were both justified...one was really wet and the other was #2).

****note to self, get more serious about potty training

I think she may have watched 10 minutes of Kung Fu Panda and I wish that I had not seen any it. It was terrible! There had been way to much hype and I was extremely disappointed. As we were leaving, I asked Madie if she was ready to go home. She looked at me very serious and said, "No! Go to movies!" It's a no win.

Next time, I will do more research with our movies. They must have singing or dancing or some kind of music and oh ya.....we MUST have popcorn.....I like it!

Fireworks That Scream = Madie Ready To Take A Bath

We were getting ready to watch fireworks at our neighbors house for the 4th of July and Madie seemed to be all about it. She was doing extremely well, considering she had not taken a nap.
I was very nervous about her seeing them. I knew she would certainly have a meltdown and cry. After a few fireworks went off she said "wow!" and began to wait anxiously for the next and saying "one more time?"....until the screaming kind began to go off and she very quickly turned and looked at me and said in the most serious voice, "I'm ready to go inside and take bath!" She NEVER asks if she can go take a bath.

A minute later we were heading inside....no looking back. Now when you say fireworks, she says "POP!"

So to review:
Screaming Fireworks = Madie ready to go inside and take a bath....who knew?

Random-ness

I was tagged by Princessmotormouth to reveal 6 random things about me and then tag 6 more bloggers to do the same. Trouble is I don't have 6 more people to tag who haven't already done so---so if you read my blog and want to share some random-ness about yourself on my comments, please feel free to do so.

Here goes:
1) I was born on my parents anniversary. When I was growing up my parents spent their anniversary's at burger king, pizza hut, sunshine skate center, and the list goes on.

2)I don't like driving a car. I prefer driving the gas guzzling SUV's. I like my vehicle to have some size to it so that other drivers have an easier time seeing me. I'm a nervous wreck when I am in the passenger seat. I prefer to drive. (Accept with hubby....I've gotten used to his driving)

3)I hate scary movies. Don't and Won't watch them. There is enough craziness out there for me to worry about....I don't need anymore ideas.

4) I drove to school when I was 15. My parents got me a car when I was 15 (a red and black Nissan Sentra SE---loved that car) I asked to drive to school one day and they let me...I couldn't believe it. I didn't take advantage of their generosity....I didn't start speeding until I got my license.

5)I have rheumatoid arthritis. I have had it since I was 14 years old.

6)I drink 2 cups of coffee every morning and about 4 diet cokes (sometimes 5) a day. Is that bad?

So, if you are reading and made it this far. I am going to tag Misti.

Precious Pictures

I finally got around to taking my lovebug to get her 2 year pictures made. I'm only 2 months late. They turned out really cute, considering at Christmas, she cried whenever they tried to take a picture of her. This time she was old enough to bribe. The Learning Express store is right next door and a perfect place to get a "surprise" afterwards. I'm excited to have some recent photos of Madie.
