Madie cooling off in the cool water.
A day of family, boating, sun, water and fun!!! It doesn't get much better. We enjoyed every minute.P.S. Madie and I used plenty of sunscreen.....hubby did not.
Never measure the greatness of something by its size. Measure it by how much it touches your heart.

Lately, the two main things Madie is interested in are princesses and footy pajamas. I can understand the princess thing but footy pajamas? When she was little I had to fight to get her to wear them. Now she thinks they are fabulous. She claps and jumps up and down when she gets to wear them. Problem is, I will not buy her another pair. No more winter attire will be bought for this household. No, we are setting our sights on to Spring and Summer and she only has 2 pair which means...it leads to doing laundry more frequently.
I think I'll make sure to buy several night gowns for the Spring. I think they will probably be the next "big" thing.

A big girl bed for my BIG girl!!!
I finally admitted that Madie had outgrown her crib daybed. I don't know if it was her legs hanging off the side of the bed every night when we would go check on her before we went to sleep or the numerous nights that she would end up in the bed with us because she had absolutely NO room to roll around in her own bed...whatever the reason, I decided it was time to go and get Miss Madie a new big girl bed. It is bitter sweet but I know she is resting more comfortably and she loves her new bed. And she hasn't fallen out if it once. My baby is growing up. *sigh*

Yesterday it was SUPPOSED to snow. Schools were closed. Everyone had bought their milk and bread and we were hunkered down and waiting for some snow. Madie was so excited for the opportunity to build a snowman. (One of her favorite Christmas cartoons this year was Frosty so I think she may have had some plans for her snowman.) We waited and waited...no snow. Then it started to snow a little and well, it didn't really snow much more than that. Madie was devastated when she woke from her nap yesterday to discover that there was no snow on the ground. She was convinced that her daddy would bring some home from work but no such luck.
So this morning when we got up....it was snowing! Big flakes. I knew from watching the weather that it was not going to be a long lived snow. I got Madie in her boots, jacket, hat, scarf and gloves (while still in her PJ's) and let her go outside on the back porch and enjoy a few minutes of the snow falling around her.
There wasn't a whole lot of snow, but there were certainly a lot of BIG SMILES!

Well, Christmas has past and a new year has begun (Yay 2010) and I am STILL playing catch up. I just can't seem to find the time to make myself sit down at the computer. It's just so much easier keeping up with things on my iPod and it is not an easy task to try and type a post on my iPod. All the decorations are down all the new toys have found a home and I have regained some normalcy in our house. (Note to self: It is not as much fun taking down Christmas decorations as it is to put them up..think twice before putting up so many trees!)
Christmas was wonderful...magical even. Madie is at the age where you really can experience the holidays through her eyes. Her quote for Christmas morning was, "Mommy, Daddy all my dreams have come true!" Priceless and good for the soul.
This years holiday activities was much like all the others. A trip to Muscle Shoals, home for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and then a trip to Jacksonville. We were so lucky to see just about everyone in our family and those we didn't get to see we hope to see them soon.
Here are a few of my favorite candid shots from the holidays.
Madie bouncing on her bouncy ball that Santa brought.
Hubby putting together the Barbie Trike we gave her for Christmas. She is still riding it in the house and has mastered the art of taking turns on two wheels.
Madie posing net to her new toy kitchen. She's a good cooker. Makes the best pumpkin pie I have ever eaten. (secret ingredients are carrots and cabbage...her words not mine)
