My Backseat Observer

While driving down the road the other day Madie and I had this conversation:

Madie: Mommy, what's that?

Me: That's a bank sweetie.

Madie: Oh, that's where you get money and suckers.

Me: Yes, (long pause with a grin on my face) you are absolutely right. Money and suckers.

Madie: Mommy, I love suckers.

She's and observant little thing.

My Newest Obsession

Madie's Mom has a new obsession. Don't get me wrong, I am still being true to my obsession of all things Twilight Saga and Rob Pattinson, I'm even reading some of the books again in between other reads and watching the movie whenever a get a chance. But it is in a lull period right now and it will be sometime before New Moon comes out and I needed something to fill the gap besides the latest gossip about New Moon filming.

So...I turned to The Tudors.

Several weeks ago I realized that the new season on Showtime was about to begin. I watched it and loved it. It's on its 3rd season and I wanted to see more so I have gone back and watched all of season 2. I've just read that it will be cancelled after its 4th season. Too bad...its a great drama and history lesson too. I'll enjoy it while I can.

You Say Tomato...

This morning Madie and I went to buy some flowers to set out around the house and on the back porch. I decided that while we were out I would get a planter to plant the cherry tomato seeds that I had previously bought. Madie LOVES tomatoes...all kinds all sizes. She especially likes cherry tomatoes so I thought it would be neat to have her help me plant the seeds and help me water the seeds and watch daily for our plants to grow. Then when they grew tomatoes she could help me take them off the vine and we could eat them.

Sounded like fun to me.

We get home from our outing and as I am putting the potting soil in the planter she asked me if she can go inside that she doesn't want to help right now, but that when there are tomatoes on there she will help me. ( I thought she was about to be 3...not 13! I didn't let her out of this one.) I made her stay outside to watch me put the seeds in the pot. She doesn't quiet understand the concept. She keeps asking me when she can get a tomato. In a few weeks, hopefully she'll be able to see one.

To Swim Or Not To Swim....That Is The Question.

Today was Madie's first swim lesson. We have been talking it up for weeks. Talking about her teacher as if we already know her. Talking about all the fun she will have when she goes to swim class. Well, today was the day.

We actually started practicing with the goggles in the bathtub this past weekend.

Madie looked especially cute before we left to go to for her lesson.

She loved her teacher and was having a great time.

And.....things are going great!

And then, it all takes a turn for the worse. Something about floating on her back and putting her head under the water as she blew bubbles and Madie started to cry hysterically. A full on terrified cry that almost broke my heart. I know it had to be scary for her. Snot was coming out of her nose and her eyes were red, not from the chlorine but because of all of the crying. I tried to bribe her with a milkshake after her lesson but nothing seemed to calm her. We finally got her settled down before our lesson was over and she got back in the water and kicked her feet a little but insisted that she was ready to go home.

Here is a picture of her with her red eyes minus the snot after her lesson.

When we got to the locker room to change out of her bathing suit she said, "I love swimming with Ms. Danika."
Figures.....next weeks lesson ought to be very exciting.

Easter Fun

Yesterday was Easter and what a great day we had. The Easter bunny came and left Madie a lot of chocolate and suckers...her favorite. She thought she had to eat them all in one day. Both my parents and hubby parents came to visit and enjoy the day. Aunt A also stopped by on her way back to school. Here are a few pictures from the day.

Where are all the eggs with the chocolate in them?

Oh Goodness!

Smile for the camera.

Finally, Madie found the eggs with the chocolate in them.

A Lot of Rambling

WARNING- I write this post in a sinus/allergy medication haze. Rambling and run on sentences may occur. In the event that this post makes no sense whatsoever, discontinue reading and check back at a later date when a new post has been written.

The past few weeks seem to have been very busy. The social calendar of an almost 3 year old is very hectic and Mommy is doing her best to keep up. The weather has started to warm hence the lack of blog posts because we have been outside a lot. So here is a run down of the past week or so.

~I signed Madie up for swim classes. She will go to 6 thirty minute private sessions. Hubby was the influence on this one. We have a lake in our backyard and although Madie is never outside unattended, it will be nice to know that she has been taught some swimming skills before the summer gets here.

~We went to visit with some of my former co-workers last Wednesday. Madie was so sweet and talked to everyone. She's not a shy one that is for sure (she comes by it honestly). It was nice to see everyone and let them see how much Madie has grown. It has been a while since we had been for a visit.

~Last Friday we went to the coolest Easter Eggstravaganza. We recently joined the Mom's League of Birmingham and the annual Easter Party/Egg Hunt was held at a local park. We had the best time and everyone in the group is very nice. It was the first time that Madie officially participated in an Easter Egg hunt. Last year she had the never ending stomach flu and Easter had come and gone before she felt like doing much of anything. She was so cute, when she realized that there was candy in the egg. She would stop and see what was in each egg before she moved on to try and find another. Her egg count wasn't that high, but her treat quality was top notch and to her liking.

~We went to a birthday party on Saturday for a little boy in Madie's MDO class. All of the kids enjoyed playing outside. It was perfect weather for a party. I noticed that Madie was not acting like herself. She was playing and having a good time but she seemed to be so whinny. I knew something wasn't quiet right but I just thought she might be tired or something. Sunday when she woke up she told me that her ear was hurting and she was running a fever. I took her to the Dr. She had a double ear infection. 10 days of antibiotics...Yippee! I am so glad we caught it before it made her really sick.

And in conclusion...
Lat night we were on our way to eat dinner at Aunt Peggy's house. She lives in Columbiana. We are able to go on back roads to get to her house without having to get on the Interstate, which is a good thing when you are trying to get there at 5pm. With Madie in the back seat and me driving this is how are conversation went.
Madie: Mommy, are we going backwards?
Me: No Sweetheart, we aren't going backwards we are going forward.
Madie: Mommy, are we going backwards?
Me: No, we are going forward.
Madie: Mommy, are we going backwards?
-And then it hits me. Madie is great with directions and will tell you in a heart beat if you have taken a wrong turn or if you are going the wrong way. Which is great, unless she thinks you are going somewhere different from where she thinks you are going. She is just like her mommy, she is a great back seat driver.
Our conversation continued...
Me: Do you mean are we going the back way to Aunt Peggy's?
Madie: Yes, are we going the back way?
Me: Yes, very good, we are going the back way.

She has also called a short cut a hair cut before.....the english language can be so confusing sometimes.
