Today Madie and I went to do some errands and it was getting close to lunch time so we stopped at Logan's to have some lunch. Now, we have eaten there before but not in the past few months. So we are sitting there and in the next booth over are two men eating peanuts and dropping the shells on the floor. At first, Madie just looks at them. The next time she says "Oops!" But they didn't notice her. Each time they dropped the peanuts she would say "Oops or Up" telling them to pick it up- until finally she justed started saying "NO no no!"
I was so proud of her! She knew that you were not supposed to throw food off the table. Granted, she could have been a little nicer in telling them but we'll work on that another time.

It Doesn't Get Much Better
Yesterday was my Birthday----The big 34. Hubby surprised me with gifts (how thoughtful is this...a card from him, a card from Madie, a sonicare toothbrush, set of kitchen knives, a rolling pin, a spatula, and a beautiful new watch!) AND a cookie cake (he got big brownie points for that!), and Madie gave me lots of hugs and kisses all day. Last night we went out to eat with my BFF and her family. It was so good to see them. We don't see them enough. After that, an evening of watching "LOST" topped off the evening. It doesn't get much better than that.
Until next year birthday---adios!

Three Little Lady Bugs All In a Row
Well, Today was our trip to the library. I was a little worried since we had a hectic visit last week. But, Madie and I talked about being a "good girl" when we go to see Mr. Mac, so I was hoping that she had heard and understood what I had been trying to tell her. She was VERY good and really enjoyed herself. About halfway through puppet time, Madie goes to the back of the room where she found her mysterious "bug meal" last week so I stood up and gave her the eye whenever she bent down to pick something up. I walked over to her as she was setting a dead lady bug back in its place next to 2 other dead lady bugs. So now, there is 3 little ladybugs all in a row. She stood up, waved bye-bye to the ladybugs and blew them a kiss. Maybe she knows that she is not supposed to eat bugs, maybe she understood that she would get in trouble for eating them or maybe she thinks they are part of going to see Mr. Mac now. Either way, I thought it was cute.

Ganging up on Da Da
I am always amazed at the things Madie can come up with to make me laugh. Today we were playing and she laid her head down and said "night night" as she often does to pretend like she is going to sleep. When she laid her head down she began making this gagging/choking/gotta hair ball in my throat sound. I asked her if she was okay and she nodded her head yes. She laid her head down and did it again. I asked her what she was doing and she said "Da Da." So I realize that she is pretending to be her daddy when he goes "night night" and she is trying to snore like him. I asked if she was snoring like Daddy and she said "S" (which is yes). I could hardly control my laughter.
So when Da Da gets home from work I ask her to snore like Daddy and again she begins the gagging/choking/gotta hair ball in my throat sounds. Daddy busts out laughing and asked if we were ganging up on him.
I think its probably the first time of many.

Library books or bugs
Last week Madie and I went for our weekly visit to the library. We go every week and she loves it. Mr. Mac ( An old hippy---he plays grateful dead songs to kids under 4) plays his guitar and sings songs and tells stories and brings a big bag of puppets for all the kids to play with. The past few weeks that we have gone Madie is finding her indepenence. She no longer feels the need to saty right beside mommy, but rather enjoys exploring and running all around the room and playing and talking with the other kids. I think that this is great at first....until the 50th lap around the room and then I think that it is time for her to come back and sit with mommy. We always carry a drink and a snack to enjoy while visiting Mr. Mac. Madie had eaten her snack and taken off again to go and explore when I notice her in the back of the room. I notice that she is chewing something and remember that she did not have any of her snack with her so I get up, walk to the back of the room and motion her to come to the door. We walk outside and I ask her what she has in her mouth. She sticks out her tongue and I see a body, a wing and one leg. Where is the rest of it? I do a finger sweep, retrieve what looks like another leg and maybe a head. I asked "what do you have in your mouth?" Madie repies "a BUG". I told her "Gross, we don't eat bugs". Needless to say our trip to the library was cut short. I thought you were supposed to get books at the library.....not bugs!
