I Heart The Two Corey's

Being a child of the 80's, I am one of "those" girls who loved Corey Haim and Corey Feldman. I loved all of their movies, especially The Lost Boys & Licensed To Drive. Last summer, I was a loyal viewer of their reality show The Two Coreys. It airs of A&E Sunday nights @ 9pm. Well, we are two weeks into season 2 and I am addicted again. I don't know what it is about them. I was the same way about Scott Baio's reality show on VH1, I watched every single episode. I think it is interesting to see where they are in their life, what they have done with it and what they have learned. Is there a lesson to be taught from reality TV after all?

I feel much better now that I have gotten that off my chest. I think I can now go through the rest of the week without guilt. But don't think I won't be watching next Sunday night to see what happens.

I heart The Two Corey's!

To Hubby With Love

While we were on vacation, hubby and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary. Sometimes it doesn't seem like it has been that long. When I think back to how we met it always puts a smile on my face. Here is a little history:

I had just gotten my first "real" job out of college. It was March of 1999. It was at a radio station and I was an account executive--that's a fancy title for sales rep. Anyway, my boss told me that someone would be training me and that I would go out on sales calls with them and they would show me the ropes. My boss had also told the person who would show me the ropes (a.k.a hubby) that he had just hired a new girl and that he was going to love me. Little did he know.

I was instantly taken by hubby's personality. Everyone loved him and he always seemed happy and had such a kind spirit about him. At first, we were "just friends." Although, I knew that it was more than that.

Three months after we met, hubby experienced a terrible loss. His father passed away of a sudden heart attack, in my hubby's presence. It was such a sad time for him and I tried my best to be strong for him and his family, whom I had just met and barley knew. Hubby also experienced the loss of his older brother only 9 months before the loss of his father. His brother passed away from cancer. Both of these huge losses was a tremendous hardship on his family. And through it all, he always managed to have a smile on his face, spend time with me, and be there for his family. Through this experience, I knew that he was the "real deal." That he would never leave me or mistreat me or disrespect me in anyway---the man of my dreams--the prince in my fairytale. And...I was right. He is a wonderful man with a caring heart, a great sense of humor and still treats me as if we were dating at times.

In October of 1999, hubby left the job in which we shared so that we could "out" our dating each other. Neither of us wanted to be office gossip and tried to keep our relationship private and out of the office. He went to work for a local TV station and still remains employed there. In November of 1999, we bought a house together and two weeks later on December 4th, hubby asked me to marry him. I said "yes!" of course.

We were married in June of 2000. And blessed with a beautiful little girl in May of 2006.

I am so lucky to have found him to share my life with. I am grateful for our 8 years of marriage and I am looking forward to many many more.

Happy Anniversary.
Love you babe----Today and Always!

Back To Reality

Back to reality----Vacation was wonderful. We had such a good time. And other than the occasional meltdown, because she was tired, Madie was great! We got home yesterday afternoon. Since then, hubby has gone back to work :( and I have spent my time unpacking, washing clothes, entertaining Madie, cleaning the house and wishing for more time on vacation.
I'll make time later to sit down and post some of the happenings and some pictures from our trip to the beach--but I have to get my house back in order first. I love being on vacation, but I hate being out of my routine. I've got a lot of catching up to do. Back to reality!

Everything But The Kitchen Sink

Why is it that when you are packing to go on vacation you pack way too many things? I've caught myself packing shirts that I haven't worn all year.....why would I wear it the few days that we are going to be gone? From the looks of our luggage---Madie and I are planning on staying at the beach for a while....I think I've packed everything but the kitchen sink.

Vacation Count Down

We are leaving to go to the beach on Thursday. I am very excited. I will be crazy busy getting things packed, ready and organized tomorrow. We (Hubby, me & Madie) are going on vacation and also celebrating mine and hubby's 8th anniversary. It doesn't seem like it has been that long. Happy Anniversary Babe!

Hopefully, Madie will like the sand more than her last visit to the beach. She would only walk in packed sand and she didn't like doing that. Last year when we went, she wasn't walking yet, well not upright, she walked on all fours (like a crab) so she was very familiar with the ground and everything on it. Thank goodness the place we stay at has a zero entry pool. I think if you have a small child who doesn't like playing on the beach, they are the best. They can play in the pool and you can sit in the water and stay cool and still entertain the little one. It should be a lot more fun for her this time. I've been talking to her about it and getting her excited about going. When hubby gets home from work she always asked him "Dada Beach?".....only 2 more days!

White sandy beaches.....here we come!

Happy Daddy's Day!

Happy Daddy's Day!

Hubby and a friend went fishing today to celebrate Father's Day together. I'm glad he was able to go and enjoy himself. When he got back I had made a "Man's Dinner" for him--BBQ ribs, baked beans, potato salad and a salad--they are all some of his favorites. When we were finished, he decided that he would go ahead and cut the grass since we will be gone next weekend---not something you want your husband to do on Father's Day, but we will be at the beach next weekend.

Hubby had a little help cutting grass from his # 1 Fan.

Can you hear me now?

I finally broke down and bought a new phone. I can hardly believe it! I have never been one of "those" people that had to have the latest phones with the latest gadgets. I didn't need to be able to email from my phone, search the web or take pictures. I simply wanted a phone that would hold a charge and have service when I needed it.

My battery was 4 years old on my phone. I kept putting off getting a new one and just charging mine every few hours. But I don't have to do that anymore...yippee! And, I was even able to upgrade and get a phone with a camera on it at no extra charge---I'm a negotiator---either that, or they just wanted to get me out of the store as quickly as possible because I had a two year old with me.

I'm thankful for my new phone, thankful to have a battery that will now hold a charge and thankful to feel a little more cool----now that I've got a new phone. Because sometimes, being a SAHM....you don't always feel very cool, hip or in the loop.

Hawaii Hula

My MIL went to Hawaii a few weeks ago for a business conference. While she was there, she picked up this little ensemble for Miss Madie. She looked so cute and enjoyed dancing around in her grass skirt. Notice the lovely flower barrette in her hair---she also has on a dolphin necklace and she decided to complete the outfit by putting on her Ruby Red Slippers...she was all dolled up.

Library Chaos

So today was library day. Madie so looks forward to the morning when I ask her if she wants to go and see Mr. Mac. We didn't go last week and we've been only once since school was out and you can sure tell the difference. There are twice as many kids there, with twice as many moms and twice as loud. (I thought libraries were supposed to be quiet) It was so loud and kids were running around everywhere that I have no idea what story Mr. Mac told, I remember only a few songs (because we sing the same songs every week....accept for the solos Mr. Mac sings, which usually consists of 60's hippy song and he has his Grateful Dead--Uncle John's Band in heavy rotation). Puppet time is my favorite and Madie's too. She always finds this tiny ladybug puppet--(It must remind her of the day she ATE ladybugs at the library!)

I signed Madie up for the Summer Reading Program today. I know, she's not reading yet. But, she loves looking at books and having them read to her. She even pretends to read it to you when you finish reading to her. For the program, you keep a list of all the books you and your child read and them bring in your completed list to get library bucks/dollars (whatever, you get the idea) and they can spend their earned money in the library store. I thought it would be a fun thing for us to do. I wonder if you are able to count the same book more than once. Madie is in to repetition....if she likes something once, she likes it two, three or four times. I can see it now, our first list of books will be a full page of Dr. Seuss, Mr. Brown Can Moo Can You?

Pools and Parks and Picnics....Oh My!

I finally found the pool I wanted to get Madie last weekend but couldn't find it. Hubby and I set it up and had it ready for her yesterday morning.

She had so much fun!

This morning Madie and I went to the park to have a picnic. When we got there, we were the only ones there. Like we had our own private park. We had our lunch and then I pushed her in the swing, played on the slide and steps and walked around for a bit.

Here is Madie having a great time on our picnic.

Here is Madie, just being cute!

Q.T. Time With Daddy...

PRICELESS!

Swim Day!

Hubby was going fishing on Saturday, so Madie and I decided that we would go spend friday night with Nana and Paw-paw so that we could swim on Saturday. We got out in the pool around 10am and the water had not yet been heated by the beaming sunshine because the water was COLD! Madie didn't seem to care. She wanted to swim. She had so much fun and was so exhausted. We had a picnic with Nana, Paw-paw, Uncle B & Lyn-lee and then Maw-Maw(Madie's great-grandmother) came by for a visit to watch Madie swim.

Around 2pm she looked at me and said "nap."

Note to self: trips to swimming pools makes for tired child and long nap.

Here are a few photos from the day.
